Description
An unidentified naval officer addresses the crew on the deck of HMAS Sydney on its return to Sydney after a successful campaign in the Mediterranean. The following day her crew were given a welcoming parade in Martin Place and were later feted with a civic reception and luncheon at Sydney Town Hall. On 20 November 1941 the Sydney was sunk with the loss of all hands after a battle with the German raider Kormoran.
