Sager, William Edmund (Gunner, b.1896 - d.1918)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 63788 Gunner William Edmund Sager, Australian Field Artillery.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Collection consists of a letter Gunner Sager wrote to his sisters Elsie and Florrie from the Signals School in Wiltshire, England, in August 1918. Sager writes that he is yet to receive a letter from either of them, but he is well, is camped 90 miles from London, and has recently caught up with a friend from home. He also remarks that he is hoping to transfer out of the Signals School.
Before he could be posted to the frontline, Gunner Sager fell ill during the 1918-1919 influenza pandemic and died on 26 October 1918.
