Studio portrait of Captain (Capt) Claude Henry Stubbings MC and his bride Ena on their wedding ...
Description
Studio portrait of Captain (Capt) Claude Henry Stubbings MC and his bride Ena on their wedding day. Capt Stubbings was badly wounded in the leg and repatriated to Australia for further medical treatment. While a patient at Caulfield Hospital he met masseuse Catherine Campbell (Ena) Bothroyd and they fell in love. Because of his wounds the family had misgivings about the two marrying, however they eloped in 1921, shortly before Claude was discharged from the Army.
