Description
Studio portrait of 412805 Flying Officer (FO) Albert Dudley Chivers, of Lithgow, NSW. FO Chivers enlisted in the RAAF on 20 July 1941, and after completing his Observer training was posted to 100 Squadron. On 25 February 1943, FO Chivers was a member of the crew of Beaufort aircraft A9-197 which failed to return to its base at Gurney Airfield near Milne Bay, New Guinea. A subsequent enquiry concluded that the aircraft had crashed into the sea. FO Chivers' name is recorded on the Port Moresby Memorial; he has no known grave.
