Studio portrait of 510 Driver (Dvr) Eric Sydney Lucas, 11th Machine Gun Company, of Charters Towers, Qld. Formerly a labourer, Dvr Lucas enlisted on 5 October 1916 and as a member of the 7th Reinforcements he embarked from Melbourne, Vic, aboard HMAT Ballarat, (A70) on 19 February 1917. He served on the Western Front and ended the war serving with the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion. He returned to Australia on 11 May 1919. Written in pen on the photograph are the words 'Yours sincerely Eric Lucas'.
