Studio portrait of 1933 Private (Pte) Lionel Victor Cordell, 2nd Battalion, of Sunny Corner, NSW. A carpenter prior to enlistment he embarked from Sydney on board HMAT Hororata (A20) on 10 April 1915. Pte Cordell was killed in action on 20 April 1917, aged 27. He has no known grave and his name is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
