Description
Studio portrait of 415064 Sergeant Harry Sheperdson Ashbolt, RAAF, from York, Western Australia. A 19 year old salesman prior to enlisting on 23 June 1941, he became an Airman Pilot and was promoted up through the ranks to reach the rank of Flight Sergeant. On 15 April 1944, he went missing, believed killed on air operations, in a Beaufighter aircraft over Timor. He is commemorated on the Northern Territory Memorial at Adelaide River, Northern Territory with others who have no known grave. [See also image P10655.001.]
