Studio portrait of 368 Private (Pte) Charles Ernest Victor Harrington, 9th Machine Gun Company, of Hornsby, NSW. A salesman prior to enlistment he embarked from Melbourne, Vic, with the 4th Reinforcements on board HMAT Port Lincon (A17) on 20 October 1916. Pte Harrington transferred to the 3rd Batttalion Australian Machine Gun Corps on 13 February 1917. Harrington was killed in action on 5 April 1918 at Albert, France. He was 20 years of age. He is buried at the Ribemont Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
