Informal portrait of twin brothers NX9677 Private (Pte) Neville Douglas Boyd (left) and NX9694 Pte Keith Hamilton Boyd, 2/3 Battalion. The Boyd brothers of Manly, NSW enlisted on 3 January 1940, aged 17. From 1940 to 1942 they served in Libya, Greece, Crete and Syria. In newspaper reports of the time they were referred to as 'Manly's fighting twins'. Neville Boyd was promoted to Corporal (Cpl) and Keith Boyd to Sergeant (Sgt). Cpl Neville Boyd was discharged in August 1945, and Sgt Keith Boyd in October 1945.
