Studio group portrait of four soldiers. Standing, centre, is 3437 Private (Pte) Urban Joseph Trudgett, 2nd Battalion, of Young, NSW. A carpenter prior to enlisting in July 1915, Pte Trudgett embarked from Sydney with the 11th Reinforcements on board HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November 1915. He was transferred to the 53rd Battalion, in Egypt, in February 1916 and arrived in France for service on the Western Front on 22 June 1916. Pte Trudgett was killed in action at Polygon Wood, Ypres, Belgium on 24 September 1917. He was 23 years of age. Sitting, is Pte Trudgett's brother, 1109 Pte William John Trudgett, 12th Light Horse Regiment, of Young, NSW. Pte William Trudgett returned to Australia in July 1918. The other soldiers have not been identified.
