Group portrait of 19 Allied Prisoners of War at Stalag XVIIIa working camp A 146/L near Wolfsburg, including NX14129 Private (Pte) Henry James Sparkes, 2/2 Battalion, who was one of the detail employed as a farm labourers. In a letter to his brother he described his occupation: "I've got a great job these days I'm batman to an Ox on a farm and its just my pace, by the way." Part of a series of photographs, letters and related items recording the service of Pte Sparkes who was taken POW in Greece in April 1941, this print was fastened to a postcard he sent home to his wife.
