Studio portrait of 3003 Trooper (Tpr) Arthur Ernest Hobbs, 1st Light Horse Regiment , of Little Plain, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting in May 1916, Tpr Hobbs embarked from Sydney with the 22nd Reinforcements on board HMAT Katuna (A13) on 23 November 1916. He died of pneumonia in Egypt on 24 October 1918. Tpr Hobbs was 26 years of age. His brother 2194 Pte John Edward Hobbs, 33rd Battalion, was killed in action at Messines, Belgium, on 8 June 1917.
