Description
Members of the 2/22 Battalion stand "at ease" during a march the day before their embarkation for overseas service. Identified is VX37681 Sergeant (Sgt) Robert Buchanan Hannah. An insurance inspector prior to enlisting on 6 August 1940, Sgt Hannah embarked for overseas service in Rabaul on 12 March 1941. Sgt Hannah was reported missing, believed to have been taken prisoner, on 3 May 1942. He was presumed to have died at sea on 1 July 1942.
