Studio portrait of VX44439 Private (Pte) Victor Brown, 2/21 Battalion, of Rosanna, Vic. Victor Brown was a nurseryman prior to enlisting in July 1940. Following training in Victoria and New South Wales, the battalion moved to Darwin in April 1941. Shortly after, Pte Brown was appointed Acting Corporal (A/Cpl). The 2/21 Battalion arrived in Ambon in December as part of Gull Force and A/Cpl Brown became a prisoner of war in February 1942. He died of beri-beri in Ambon on 21 May 1945. A/Cpl Brown was 31 years of age.
