Collection relating to the Second World War service of PM7675 Chief Petty Officer Frank Alexander Paxton, HMAS Hobart, Royal Australian Navy, Australia and Borneo, 1945.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one notebook of Chief Petty Officer Frank Alexander Paxton, used in 1945. This notebook contains training notes and written exams of Chief Petty Officer Paxton, written during his work as an engine room artificer on HMAS Hobart. The notes relate to the operation and maintenance of various engine systems of HMAS Hobart.

History / Summary

Chief Petty Officer Frank Alexander Paxton enlisted to the Royal Australian Navy on 14 August 1944. After a period of training, he served as an Engine Room Artificer VI on HMAS Hobart in operations in Borneo, and was present in Tokyo Bay, Japan, when the Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed. After the war, Chief Petty Officer Paxton transferred to HMAS Lonsdale, and was discharged on 19 August 1946.
