Description

Green album relating to service of Elsie Pitchford. Album contains 240 images, some loose, over 59 pages (including inside covers) [pp 48-59 are blank]. It documents the service of Staff Nurse Elsie Pitchford who enlisted from No 8 AGH at Fremantle, WA, on 8 May 1917. Album includes images of Deolali, Colombo, Bombay, Egypt, Delhi, Ceylon, Belgium, Southall and France and Belgium, all places where Elsie Pitchford worked or visited. Promoted to Sister in June 1919, Elsie Pitchford worked at the 34th Welsh General Hospital at Deolali, No 2 Australian Auxiliary Hospital at Southall, England, No 3 Australian Auxiliary Hospital at Dartford, England, leaving England on 4 July 1919 for Australia.
A number of images feature her friend and fellow nurse Annie Kinsman Sexton AANS.
