Description

Outdoor portrait of 24581 Assistant Steward George William Coppin, of Semaphore, SA. Assistant Steward Coppin enlisted in the RAN on 2 September 1940. Whilst serving on HMAS Sydney II, he was killed in action when the Sydney was sunk in the Indian Ocean by the German auxiliary cruiser Kormoran on 20 November 1941. He was aged 18.
