Studio portrait of 5058 Pte Cecil Henry Coffey, 9th (later 49th) Battalion, of Toowoomba, Qld, son of Cecil John and Nellie Coffey, Mount Perry, Qld. A stockman prior to enlisting, he embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Star of Victoria (A16) on 31 March 1916. He was killed in action during the Battle of the Somme, France on 5 September 1916, aged 19. He is buried in Serre Road Cemetery No 2, France.
