Studio portrait of 4386 Pte (later L Cpl) Arthur Thomas Daft, 19th Battalion, of Marrickville, NSW, son of William and Mary Eliza Daft. A carter prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Nestor (A71) on 9 April 1916. He was killed in action at Mont St Quentin, France near Halley Village, on 31 August 1918, aged 20. He is buried in the Peronne Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
