Studio portrait of Private NX95896 (Pte) Alfred Colin Myers, 2/33 Battalion, of Eltham, NSW, who was a dairy farmer prior to enlisting in May 1942. The 2/33 Battalion arrived in New Guinea in September 1942. On 7 September 1943, at Jackson's Airfield, Port Moresby, a Liberator bomber crashed into the battalion's transport trucks. Sixty six men were killed and ninety two, including Pte Myers, were injured. Pte Myers died of his injuries on 8 September. He was 32 years of age.
