Studio portrait of 2352 Private (Pte) Stanley Breakell, 28th Battalion, of Mount Marshall, WA. A farmer prior to enlisting in July 1915, Pte Breakell embarked from Fremantle with the 5th Reinforcements on board HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 13 October 1915. After further training in Egypt he arrived in France for service on the Western Front on 21 March 1916. Pte Breakell was killed in action at Pozieres, France, between 3 and 6 November 1916. He was 23 years of age.
