Studio portrait of 2355 Private (Pte) William James Clark, 10th Battalion, of Henley Beach, SA. A well sinker prior to enlisting in March 1915, Pte Clark embarked from Adelaide with the 6th Reinforcements on board HMAT Borda (A30) on 23 June 1915. In France, in April 1916 he was transferred to the 50th Battalion. Pte Clark was killed in action in Belgium on 27 September 1917. He was 33 years of age.
