Studio portrait of 4218 Private (Pte) William Ralph Marshall, 10th Battalion, of Grange, SA. A process engraver prior to enlisting in August 1915, Pte Marshall embarked from Adelaide with the 13th Reinforcements on board HMAT Borda (A30) on 11 January 1916. The next month he was transferred to the 50th Battalion. Pte Marshall was killed in action in France on 25 April 1918. He was 24 years of age.
