Studio portrait of Private (Pte) QX19544 Gordon Eric Stanberg, 2/26 Battalion, of Acland, Qld He enlisted from Brisbane on 2 June 1941. Pte Stranberg died of illness as a Prisoner of War in Siam on 13 August 1943, aged 26. He is buried at at the Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery. His nephews QX16955 Pte Arthur James Manteit, 2/26 Battalion was killed in action in Malaya on 15 January 1942 and Pte Edward August Manteit of the 2/26 Battalion died of illness as a Prisoner of War in Siam on 4 October 1943.
