Studio portrait of 3400868 Private (Pte) John Philip Saunders, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), of Canberra, ACT. A veteran of the Second World War, Pte Saunders commenced service in Korea on 9 January 1953. After a raid to capture a Chinese prisoner Pte Saunders was assumed missing, presumed killed in action on or after 25 January 1953. Pte Saunders would have turned 26 on 26 January 1953. He is commemorated on Wall 2 in the United Nations Memorial Cemetery, South Korea.
