Tetanus
Description
'Tetanus' does not depict a particular location, but instead merges historical and contemporary motifs of the Solomon Islands to reveal a wrecked past and an uncertain future. Barefoot children play amongst unexploded ordnance and clamber over rusting American aircraft and amtracks left behind after the war. Through this scene wanders an Australian patrol, while in the background the dense rainforest has been clear-felled, the timber now stacked in massive piles. This work reveals the destruction and mess caused by colonisation and exploitation of land that continues to this day.
