Studio portrait of SX7041 Signalman (Sig) John Lawrence Oakeshott, 8th Divisional Signals, of Hawthorn, SA. He was a clerk prior to enlisting in June 1940. Sig Oakeshott became a prisoner of war following the fall of Singapore to the Japanese in February 1942. He died in Burma of illness on 7 December 1942. Sig Oakeshott was 22 years of age.
