Description

Commercially made wooden cribbage board which has been signed by members of the RAAF. The board features two sets of 60 holes, located on the left and right sides which have been divided into six groups of 10. In the centre of the board are two sets of 12 holes.

The board features a decorative pattern, featuring vines and leaves, which has been stamped on with black ink. At one end of the board, a small piece of green plastic has been attached with a nail through the centre. When the plastic is rotated, it reveals 2 holes to store the scoring pieces [which are missing from this set).

The signatures on the back of the board are 'NO. 82317 LES. C. COOPER', 'NO 37576 'STEVE' BERWICK', '51679 FRED. JENNINGS', '52524 NORM DATSON', '48430 COLIN JOHNS', '71789 M. PATRICK', '429306 H COCHRANE 'COCKY'', 'NO 76971 ERNIE GEORGE 1944-1945', '150729 R. EHSMAN 'RASHER'', '150501 D RAFTER', 'GYMPIE TIGER' and '134163 BERT CARVETH GOOD LUCK SID'.

History / Summary

This cribbage board was owned by an unknown member of the RAAF during the Second World War. The men who signed the back of the board all served with the RAAF during the Second World War and have all been identified except for 82317 Les C. Cooper.
