Studio portrait of 2055 Private (Pte) William John Thomas Jenner, 50th Battalion from Alberton, South Australia. A 24 year old labourer prior to enlisting on 2 October 1915, he embarked for overseas with the 3rd Reinforcements of the 32nd Battalion from Adelaide on 7 February 1916 aboard HMAT Miltiades. Following further training in Egypt, he joined the 48th Battalion and then transferred to the 50th Battalion on 23 April 1916. After arriving in France in June 1916, he had several periods of illness and was then killed in action at Villers-Bretonneux on 25 April 1918. Pte Jenner is buried in the Adelaide British Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
