Studio portrait of 2887 Private (Pte) Kingsley Arnold Wesley Cyril Bidgood, 50th Battalion from Marryatville, South Australia. An 18 year old coachbuilder prior to enlisting on 21 June 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 7th Reinforcements of the 50th Battalion from Adelaide on 6 November 1916 aboard HMAT Afric. Following further training in England, he arrived in France and joined the 50th Battalion on 15 April 1917. After being wounded in action at Messines on 10 June 1917, he was evacuated to England for medical treatment. On recovery, he rejoined the 50th Battalion on 6 October 1917 and was killed in action at Passchendaele, Belgium on 14 October 1917. Pte Bidgood is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial at Ypres, Belgium with others who have no known grave.
