RAAF flying suit
Light green polyester twill blend fabric flying suit with long fold down collar, split in the centre by a white metal zip which can be closed to form a hood. Each side of the collar/hood has a casing containing a green cotton cord for size adjustment. The long sleeves have close fitting green knit fabric cuffs. Each shoulder strap, secured by a brass press stud, carries rank stripes for a flight lieutenant. A casing inside the waist carries a self fabric strap which can be adjusted for fit using Velcro tabs. A centre front brass zip closure extends from neck to crutch. The inside of each lower leg also closes with a brass zip.
There are two large slanted breast pockets closed with brass zips, a large pocket on each lower leg closed by horizontal brass zips, a large thigh pocket on the right leg with the same style of zip, and a large pocket on the left thigh with a side closure secured by a brass zip. A pocket on the upper left sleeve has a side closing vertical brass zip. Sewn to the outside of this pocket is a smaller pocket with white metal fittings to hold two pens. A white cotton tape is sewn to the right breast bearing a black stencilled name, 'HOOPER'. There is a black printed manufacturer's label inside the back neck which reads, 'M. PENNISI 1967 A [broad arrow] F SIZE 3 8415-024-5600'.
The history of this flying suit is not known.
