Studio portrait of 2167 Private (Pte) Lewis George Brown, 32nd Battalion. A postman from Wilmington, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked from Adelaide aboard HMAT Miltiades on 7 February 1916 for Suez. His battalion relocated to the Western Front, France, during June 1916. Pte Brown was killed in action on 19 July 1916 during the Battle of Fromelles and is buried in the Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery, France. He was aged 25 years.
