Studio portrait of 395 Private (Pte) Frederick George Tralaggan, 43rd Battalion. A labourer from Mount Bryan East, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 1st Reinforcements from Adelaide aboard HMAT Afric on 9 June 1916 for Suez. An outbreak of measles affecting 91 troops caused the death of Pte Tralaggan on 28 June 1916 whilst en route between Colombo and Port Said and he was buried at sea the same day. He was aged 20 years.
