Studio portrait of 164 Private (Pte) Joseph Louis Polle, 32nd Battalion. An ironworker from Glanville, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 1st Reinforcements from Adelaide aboard HMAT Geelong on 18 November 1915 for Suez. Pte Polle was admitted to hospital with influenza on 5 March 1916 and died from complications of this disease eleven days later. He was aged 23 years.
