Informal portrait of 3751 Lance Corporal (L Cpl) Percy Olifent, 32nd Battalion. A bank clerk from Moonta, South Australia, prior to enlistment as a Private, he embarked with the 9th Reinforcements from Adelaide aboard HMAT Commonwealth on 21 September 1916 for Plymouth, England. After training in England he joined his battalion on the Western Front, France, in July 1917 when he was appointed Lance Corporal. L Cpl Olifent was injured in a railway accident near Boulogne, France, on 16 December 1917 and died of these injuries two days later in the 3rd Canadian General Hospital. He was aged 27 years.
