Description

Studio portrait of 3588 Private (Pte) Richard John Morgan, 32nd Battalion. A labourer from Menindie, New South Wales, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 8th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 12 August 1916 for Devonport, England. Following training he proceeded to France and was hospitalised for four weeks due to illness and then joined his battalion on the Western Front at Fricourt, France, in mid-January 1917. Pte Morgan was killed in action near Bapaume, France, on 11 May 1917 and is buried in the Queant Road Cemetery, Buissy, France. He was aged 35 years.
