Studio portrait of 6562 Private Irvine Samuel Beck, 27th Battalion. A farmer from Cunliffe, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 19th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 24 January 1917 aboard HMAT Miltiades (A28) for Devonport, England. Following training in England he proceeded to France and was transferred to the 50th Battalion in mid-August 1917. Pte Beck was killed in action near Villers-Bretonneux on 25 April 1918. He has no known grave and he is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial. France. He was aged 20 years.
