Studio portrait of 420489 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Alan Douglas Riordan RAAF, No. 1 Torpedo Training Unit, RAF, of Lismore, NSW. Flt Sgt Riordan enlisted in November 1941 and trained as an Air Gunner. He was killed in an accident at the Firth of Clyde Scotland, on 16 August 1943. He was 20 years of age. His brother 426468 Pilot Officer Lex Maitland Riordan was also killed in an accident, in England, on 17 January 1945, also aged 20.
