Studio portrait of 4916 Private (Pte) Frank Wylie, 10th Battalion. A farm hand from Keswick, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 15th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 9 March 1916 aboard RMS Mongolia for Egypt. On 24 March 1916 he was transferred to the 50th battalion which relocated to the Western Front, France, during June 1916. Pte Wylie was killed in action on 4 September 1916 during the Battle for Mouquet Farm. He has no known grave and he is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. He was aged 19 years.
