Studio portrait of 4292 Private (Pte) Richard Eric Wallington, 10th Battalion. A clerk from Adelaide, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 13th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 11 January 1916 aboard HMAT Borda (A30) for Suez. On 29 February 1916 he was transferred to the 50th Battalion which relocated to the Western Front, France, during June 1916. Pte Wallington was killed in action at Mouquet Farm on 16 August 1916. He has no known grave and he is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. He was aged 19 years.
