Studio portrait of 4878 Private (Pte) Patrick Sheehan, 10th Battalion. An iron moulder from Kingswood, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 15th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 9 March 1916 aboard RMS Mongolia for Egypt. On 20 May 1916 he was transferred to the 50th Battalion which relocated to the Western Front, France, in early June 1916. Pte Sheehan was wounded in action near Noreuil on 2 April 1917 and died of these wounds the following day. He was aged 33 years.
