Studio portrait of 3160 Private (Pte) Percy James Gore, 50th Battalion. A farmer from Port Lincoln, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 8th Reinforcements from Adelaide on16 December 1916 aboard HMAT Berrima (A35) for Devonport, England. Following additional training with the 15th and 13th Training Battalions he proceeded to France and joined his unit on the Western Front at Ploegsteert Wood, Belgium. Pte Gore was killed in action near Villers-Bretonneux, France, on 25 April 1918. He was aged 24 years.
