Studio portrait of 3275 Private (Pte) Harry Joseph Sinclair, 27th Battalion. A machinist from Parkside, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 7th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 12 January 1916 aboard HMAT Medic (A7) for Suez. On 6 April 1916 he was transferred to the 32nd Battalion which relocated to the Western Front, France, during mid-June 1916. He was hospitalised for three months with trench fever before rejoining his unit in mid-November 1917. Pte Sinclair was wounded in action near Peronne, France, on 3 September 1918 and died of these wounds later that day in 5th Australian Field Ambulance. He was aged 21 years.
