Studio portrait of 3332 Private (Pte) Hurtle Ray Webber, 32nd Battalion. A butcher from Brinkworth, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 8th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 12 August 1916 aboard HMAT Ballarat (A70) for Devonport, England. Following training in England he proceeded to France and joined his battalion on the Western Front near Dernancourt, France. He was reallotted regimental number 3332A on 20 March 1917. Pte Webber was accidentally drowned near Amiens on 8 June 1918. He was aged 23 years.
