Studio portrait of 3867 Private (Pte) Edgar Little, 5th Pioneer Battalion. A farmer from Talia, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 10th Reinforcements from Melbourne on 30 October 1917 aboard HMAT Aeneas (A60) for Devonport, England. On 2 January 1918, while in training in England, he was transferred to the 32nd Battalion. Pte Little was hospitalised twice with illness before eventually proceeding to France to join his battalion on the Western Front near Ribemont in early July 1918. Pte Little was killed in action near Corbie, France, on 27 July 1918. He has no known grave and he is commemorated in the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. He was aged 26 years.
