Description

Studio portrait of 405 Corporal (Cpl) Kenneth Harris Hobbs, 32nd Battalion. A gardener from Paradise, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he was promoted to Sergeant (Sgt) and embarked with B Company from Adelaide on 18 November 1915 aboard HMAT Geelong (A2) for Suez. The battalion relocated to the Western Front, France, during June 1916. Sgt Hobbs was wounded in action at the Battle of Fromelles and was able to re-join his unit six days later. Sgt Hobbs was wounded in action near Fleurbaix, France, on 16 September 1916 and died of these wounds later that day. He was aged 19 years.
