Williams, Carl (Billy)
Collection of ten original postcards relating to Carl (known as Billy/Billie) Williams, who was a young boy living in Kellyville, Sydney NSW, during the First World War. Billy lived on a property named 'Stanhope' at Kellyville, where his mother was a housekeeper for the owners of the property, the Pearce family. Two of the postcards sent to Billy were from Captain Norman Matthew Pearce who served with the 6th Australian Light Horse until he was killed in action on 29 July 1916. The other postcards are from unidentified people, although one is believed to be another soldier serving overseas in the First World War, and one is from 'M Pearce'. The final postcard is addressed to Carl Williams in 1941from the Australian Military Forces Eastern Command acknowledging receipt of his enlistment fo military service for home defence.
