Collection relating to the Second World War service of VX50665 Private Walter Henry Dawson, 2/3 Australian Commando Squadron, Second Australian Imperial Force, Australia, 1946.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one letter from the Australian Military Forces to Mrs M J Wallace, Melbourne, Victoria, 1 May 1946. This letter contains the citation for the Military Medal of Private Dawson, which describes his courage during the successful attack on Timbered Knoll, near Salamaua, New Guinea on 29 July 1943.

Oversize Item 1 of 1 – Consists of one page of 'The Argus Weekend Magazine', 1 June 1946. This page shows a cartoon of the events near Salamaua, New Guinea, for which Private Dawson was awarded the Military Medal.
