Studio portrait of 6111 Private (Pte) Arthur Phillip McGrath, 28th Battalion, of Cuballing, WA. A farmer prior to enlisting in July 1916, Pte McGrath embarked from Fremantle with the 17th Reinforcements on board HMAT Argyllshire (A8) on 9 November 1916. He arrived in France for service on the Western Front on 3 July 1917. On 20 September 1917, Pte McGrath died of wounds received in action at Ypres, Belgium. He was 43 years of age.
