Studio portrait of Chaplain The Reverend Ronald Sutton Bevington, HMAS Perth. Originally from Bournemouth, England, he studied at Cambridge University and was ordained a priest of the Anglican Church in 1936. He joined the Sydney Diocese in 1939 and was appointed a chaplain in the Royal Australian Navy in May 1940. Chaplain Bevington joined the crew of HMAS Perth in June 1940. He died, aged 31, on 1 March 1942 following the sinking of HMAS Perth in the Sunda Strait.
